New Reception Intake Sept 2021

We are thrilled to welcome your child and family into our school community. At Cage Green we recognise that parents are a child’s first educator and aim to develop excellent relationships between home and school so that we can work together to ensure your child is happy, fulfilled and reaches their full potential.

Starting school is an exciting time for young children and a major milestone. However, it can also be a daunting time for children and parents too. With this in mind we have organised a thorough transition for your child to ensure that they have a happy and settled start to Cage Green Primary school.

Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions we are unable to give you specific dates for our transition events. Once we have more information as to when we can welcome visitors into school we will contact all of our new reception parents and carers to share specific dates and times for our transition events.  Your child’s successful start to school is of the upmost importance to us and we will continue to ensure that your child receives the very best start to school life.

When restrictions upon visitors within school are lifted, our transition programme will consist of the following:

Class Visits

Before your child starts school we will invite them to attend several ‘Class Visit’ afternoons. These sessions are a chance for your child to meet their new teacher, see their new classroom and play with their new classmates.

Parent and Teacher Meetings

In the week before your child starts school you will receive an appointment time to meet your child’s class teacher and teaching assistant on the school premises. The aim of this visit is to help establish a good relationship between the teachers, teaching assistants and your family. This is also a useful time for us to answer any questions you may have about school. You will receive the date and time of your meeting shortly.

Settling into school

To ensure the children have a smooth and happy start to school we settle the children into their new class gradually. The children will begin school by staying for just mornings to start with and then move on to staying for lunch before completing whole days.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact myself of the school office on 01732 354325 or through email:

Please look out for more exciting information in the post from us soon.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs A Carter
